The parking structure will contain a number of elements that correlate to the values articulated via a survey completed by more than 6,000 community members, feedback from members of City Council, Planning Commission, and City staff, as well as comments provided by many of you at an open house last spring.

Free Shredding Event

The event is open to all residents and businesses in Washtenaw County. Customers may bring up to 100 pounds of paper for shredding. One hundred pounds of paper is approximately four standard banker’s boxes or one 96-gallon trash can. All shredded paper will be recycled. Customers with more than 100 pounds of paper to be shredded must make arrangements before the event by calling the Drop-Off Station at 734.971.7400.

The Arbor Hospice Foundation is bringing a spirited, new fundraising event to Ann Arbor’s Barton Hills Country Club. The inaugural Dine & Dash invites art enthusiasts and community members to enjoy fabulous art, wine, food and fun to benefit Arbor Hospice’s hospice care and grief support services.
Each guest will enjoy perusing extraordinary art, raffle and auction items, while making note of their favorite pieces. After dinner, attendees will kick off their heels and make a dash for the piece of art of their choice. Every twosome will go home with a piece of art valued at a minimum of $250 or more.
Tickets are $350 (entitles two people to attend and one to “dash”) or $1,600 for a reserved table of eight (entitles eight people to attend and four to “dash”). Go Shopping; Make a Difference

Holiday Shopping will be twice as nice on Sunday, November 23 when Briarwood Mall hosts the annual Simon Evening of Giving event – a festive night of private shopping that benefits area charities. Shoppers will enjoy an exciting evening of exclusive shopping featuring special discounts and gifts from participating retailers, live music and family entertainment. Shoppers are able to give back to their communities through the purchase of a ticket to the event which benefits the participating nonprofit organizations.
Special discounts offered during Simon Evening of Giving will include: 20% off at many stores including Banana Republic, FYE, The Limited, Perfumania, and Talbots. Sears will give $10 off your purchase of $50 or more, with Macy’s and JCPenney also offering similar discounts. The Program Guide will have full details. Prizes will be raffled off to shoppers throughout the evening and holiday photos will also be available for purchase (with or without Santa Claus).
Special events to be featured at Simon Evening of Giving at Briarwood Mall include: entertainment by the Arbor String Ensemble, the Cocktail Jazz Trio and a silent auction benefiting the Simon Youth Foundation. Briarwood will also be bringing back their game show, “Know Your Mall,” where everyone who plays is a winner.
Tickets sold outside the mall by participating organizations are $10 per person, $7 of which goes directly to community selling the ticket. The remaining $3 of those tickets sold goes to support the Simon Youth Foundation. The mission of the Simon Youth Foundation is to positively impact the lives of today’s youth through two initiatives: Education Resource Centers and scholarship programs. The Simon Youth Foundation was established by Simon Property Group, owners of Briarwood Mall.
In 2007, Simon Evening of Giving and Simon Day of Giving raised more than $1.8 million for 2,900 local, regional and national charities across the country.
