Pfizer Tax Abatement

The Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce urges support of the Land Incentive Package proposal requested by Pfizer Ann Arbor Laboratories. Pfizer represents a significant presence in the community through its position as the largest private employer in the city and the largest taxpayer. The proposed expansion and the revenues that it will generate more than justify special consideration over the next 12 years, as requested. 

Pfizer has proven to be a valued community supporter, contributing generously to the non-profit community and sponsoring arts and cultural activities that benefit all. Many employees of Pfizer contribute time and energy in their neighborhoods and schools. Significant dollars will be added to the retail market, the entertainment market, and the real estate market as Pfizer adds employees that are typically high wage earners.

We applaud the addition of property to the city tax roles from the University of Michigan. Even if the property is only taxed at 50%, the revenue will support city expenditures that benefit all of Ann Arbor. Pfizer has contributed to the success of our city in the past and will continue to bring value to the community. We urge approval of their request for incentives to bring future capital investments here.
